Brandon & Camille
After a career as a Fugitive Recovery Agent Brandon started the review company Rough Gear Review in 2010. RGR went from print to YouTube and covered reviews mainly on firearms. In 2014 Brandon started San Diego Gun Graphics after doing a review on the local certified Cerakote shop in San Diego. Brandon felt he was terrible and could do a better job. SDGG quickly grew into the premier Certified Cerakote shop which then evolved into West Coast Weaponworks. Now WCW would Cerakote and manufacture AR-15 style rifles. Brandon and Camille met in 2015, Camille was a firearms instructor and worked for retail and corporate Turners Outdoorsman. In 2019 the brand Camdon Defense was born (Camille & Brandon = Camdon). Although West Coast Weaponworks LLC is the company Camdon Defense is the brand name. Today all firearms are Cerakoted by Brandon, then built by Camille and finally tested by Brandon.
I love firearms. I love to collect them, I love to shoot them and I love to build them. I love California. I started to build firearms for retail in 2015 because as a Cerakoter I would have to take apart every firearm I was Cerakoting and I realized a lot of the AR-15 rifles were either junk or way overpriced. I could do better. WCW was born and I quickly realized what a tough market it is. First challenge was to get the rifles into a store. Good luck with that. The AR market is flooded so we focused all our efforts on one retailer...Turners. After a successful SHOT Show and about 6 months we finally got into Turners with our first order...75 rifles. That took us a year to fulfill, we only had enough money to make 6 rifles at a time. Ha, ha, ha. Eventually, by 2020 we were making 2400 plus rifles per year and selling to other states besides California. The second challenge was to get the consumer to understand what they were buying. Just because it had a very well-known name $&# did not mean it was a well built or quality rifle. And just because it had great marketing and cost 2k also did not mean it was the greatest rifle on the market. Sure, we have never sold to the military, and we probably never will but just because the military buys it also does not mean it is the nest. There are many variables. We have always stived to make the best rifle at a fair price and stand behind it. Then the California issue. I've been here for 53 years. I'll be dammed if I am moving just because the firearm laws suck and the state is run by idiots. Nope. I just have an FFL and shop in Prescott, AZ so we can bring into California all the cool guns, converted for CA compliance of course. We build guns exclusively for the California market. Is it easier for me to build for free states, sure, but I live here, I have to and want to support my fellow Californians. FYI our main shop is in Ranchita, California at the Camdon Ranch. Now in 2025 we are gearing up for a great year. Our CD-15 rifle is going through some changes. There will be the sub $900 version sold exclusively at Turners along with our On-Roster AR Pistol and the new CD-15 PRO and CD-10. The PRO is built just like the rest of the CD-15 rifles but with a different handguard. There is considerable expense in handguards, we use a simple design on the standard CD-15 which is why we can keep the price lower, the PRO will have Mlok and Screw Points, so if you are using your CD-15 professionally you can secure a rail to the handguard using the screw points. All Camdon Defense firearms are built with USA materials and manufactured in the USA. We use no MIM parts or imported junk. Our barrels are either Cold Hammer Forged or 4150 CMV. We stand behind our products 100% with a Lifetime Warranty. To be very honest with you...my ego is way too big to sell junk. I would be embarrassed. It may never happen for you, but it might, there might be a day when that gun matters and it matters to you. It matters to me. God Bless and thank you. - Brandon
